Concrete will be completely waterproof when
- it is properly designed to be so,
- has appropriate additives mixed through thoroughly,
- is properly placed,
- is properly compacted
- and is properly cured.

But the workforce is very unlikely to play its part well without supervision.
Concreting is a filthy job and heavy work. There needs to be an expert eye in control at all times.

In all but a frighteningly unfavourable situation we will make sure your waterproof concrete is fully waterproof - Right First Time.
In a frighteningly unfavourable situation, such as under water from an adjacent river, we will create a structure sufficiently waterproof to just need repair later after the new structure is pumped out.

All our work is in strict accordance with
- BS EN 206-1:2000. 'Concrete - Specification, performance, production and conformity'.
- BS 8500-2:2006. 'Specification for constituent materials and concrete'.
- BS 8007:1987. 'Code of practice for design of concrete structures for retaining aqueous liquids'.
We always exceed this Standard because it is for structures required to be watertight but not vapour proof. By exceeding the Standard sufficiently, with extra cement and additives for the purpose, we achieve adequate vapour proofing for a habitable basement.
- BS 8102:2009. 'Code of practice for protection of below ground structures against water from the ground'.
Grade 3; no water penetration and a dry environment maintained by heating and adequate ventilation.
We ensure that the structure is well enough vapour proof for the architectural details of heating and ventilation to meet the Standard.

It is the easiest thing in the world to let a workforce add water, drop concrete too far, let it spray off obstructions, poker it insufficiently here and too much there.
Seasoned professionals make these errors all the time every working day because no one is there to make them do the job more slowly and better so they make it as easy for themselves as they can.
The Standards are full of warnings about workmanship. Absolutely ignored everywhere except, possibly, waterworks with a Clerk Of Works supervising.
If you just buy waterproof concrete from Caltite, Pudlo, Sika, Xypex or BASF and allow it to become segregated or have unauthorised water added you have wasted your money. Neither air nor water can be waterproofed and your guarantee will be voided.
If you buy any of those products from your concrete supplier and give us the authority to be in charge of your concrete pours there will be no water added and air will be removed properly. For that we charge £400 for up to 8 hours on site.
If you buy the waterproofing products from us then we will add them to the truck when it arrives instead of at the plant. This means we have more control over the time the super plasticiser will be effective and it means we can make the profit on the chemicals and share that with you.
So if you buy the chemicals from us, and they will not cost any more, our day on site will be just £200, not £400.
Either way, we will bring 3 serviced, efficient vibrating pokers to site suitable for the task that day that you hire as a part of the cost. They just need to be cleaned and returned to us before we leave.
Our Guarantee is as good as the best of the rest. In fact the wording is an adaptation of wording given to me by the best of the rest a few years ago.
